What's the Best GPS For Sale?

Reviews, links, and resources about Car Electronics: Car Audio, Car Video, Car GPS and More

Finding the best GPS for sale is kind of like finding the best running shoes for sale. Of course, what makes the difference is the added features that the more expensive units have.

Fortunately for you and me, the GPS market place is incredibly competitive.

Personally, I'm biased toward the bigger manufacturers, Garmin, Tom Tom, and Magellan.

Garmin is the industry leader. Tom Tom and Magellan take up a hefty portion of the remaining 30% - 40%.

Garmin offers the most extensive product line. I especially like their nuvi line. The Garmin nuvis are their newer models, essentially replacing their older StreetPilot lines. StreetPilots are great and offer a ton of features for the money.)

Tom Tom has some great lower end products, like the Tom Tom One, 3rd Edition, which sells for around $150, but packs the features of a more expensive model.

My favorites among Magellan's products, are their Maestro line.

Magellan has a great proprietary deal with AAA, where they offer AAA's Tour Book right on their devices! I love AAA, so for me that was a great selling feature.

What distinguishes one GPS for sale from another? Important features you need to think about are Bluetooth, more extensive maps, choice of larger screen, telling you the street names, and multiple destination routing, among others.

How to Choose the Best Garmin GPS For Sale

It might be harder to choose the best Garmin GPS for sale, than to choose the best of Tom Tom's or Magellan's products. Garmin simply has the most to choose from with the broadest price range.

Hopefully, I can simplify your choice of a Garmin GPS for sale.

Garmin has essentially two lines of automotive GPS receivers, the StreetPilot and the nuvis. The StreetPilot's are the older models, while the nuvis are Garmin's newer flagship models. Although StreetPilot's offer a lot of GPS for the money, I'm partial to the nuvis. They're sleek, very well designed, and offer a ton of features for the various price points.

You can buy a Garmin nuvi from $150 to almost $900!

The nuvi 200 is Garmin's entry level GPS receiver. The nuvi is no slouch, though! It offers all the basic features you would expect, pre-programmed maps, large Points of Interest database, voice instructions, auto-calculation of either the shortest or the fastest route, plus a few other features like mp3 and audio book capability. Backed by Garmin's quality, the nuvi 200 is a lot of GPS for only around $150!

Besides everything the 660 does (along with the larger, 4.3-inch screen), the nuvi 880 includes MSN enhanced traffic capability.
