How to Upgrade the Software on a Tom Tom GPS Unit
Tom Tom recommends that you always install the
latest version of the Tom Tom application on your device. This ensures that you
are always using the latest features and install improvements available for your
Tom Tom GPS. Tom Tom also advises you to back up all the contents on your GPS
before upgrading the software. To back up and upgrade your Tom Tom application,
you need to download Tom Tom HOME to your computer by selecting the "
Services" tab from tomtom.com and clicking on "Tom Tom HOME",
then selecting the "Download HOME" tab.
Step
1: Switch your Tom Tom GPS on. Tom Tom HOME should start automatically.
Step
2: When HOME finishes backing up the contents of your Tom Tom GPS, click
"Done".
Step
3: Click "Update my device" from the HOME menu. Select the new
application that HOME finds for your Tom Tom GPS and click "Download
updates".
Step 4: Click "Disconnect Device" and disconnect your Tom
Tom GPS from the computer.
Tips & Warnings
- If HOME does not start
automatically when you connect your Tom Tom GPS to your computer, click on
the "Start" menu on Windows and go to "All Programs" and
select "Tom Tom" and then "HOME". If you are using a
Macintosh computer, click "Go" in the "Finder" menu,
choose "Applications" and double-click "Tom Tom HOME".
