Which
Garmin GPS Units Are the Best to Buy?

Fortunately for
us, Garmin has a very extensive selection of
products with a very broad price range. I especially
am fond of their newer nuvi line. You can get a
Garmin nuvi anywhere from $150 to $900.
If you're just
getting into GPS devices and you want an entry level
unit, you can do no better than the Garmin nuvi 200.
Priced at under $150, the nuvi 200 does everything
that a basic GPS device needs to do. It has a touch
screen interface, spoken directions, pre-loaded
maps, and a large database of Points of Interest
(POI's). Of course, it's backed by Garmin's
commitment to building quality equipment.
Before you pull
out the old credit card and buy the nuvi 200,
however, you might want to consider spending a
little more money.
I love Garmin's
quality, and for a mid-range product, I can not
think of a better buy than the nuvi 360.
All the 360 lacks
is a larger screen, multiple point routing, and
maybe maps of Europe.
Is the larger
screen necessary? Personally, I like it, but then
I've got a fairly large car with a large windshield.
The 3.5-inch screen is certainly completely visible
in any car.
If you want to go
all out and buy one of the top of the line Garmin
GPS units, then consider the 880.
Bottom
line: it all depends on your needs and your budget.
If you buy one of these Garmin GPS units I've
mentioned, then you can't go wrong. Actually, you
can't go wrong buying any Garmin product. They're a
great company and they make a quality product.
Tips
For Buying a Garmin GPS Unit
A few tips on
buying a Garmin GPS unit can be quite helpful. The
first thing to know about Garmin is that they sell
almost half of the GPS units sold in the United
States. They do this by offering quality products at
a wide variety of price points.
The nuvi is their
newer line of GPS devices. You can get a Garmin nuvi
for anywhere from $150 to almost $900.
The StreetPilots
are great devices, it's just that they're being
pushed aside by the sleeker, more feature-packed
nuvis.
The nuvi 200 is
Garmin's entry level device. And, if you're just
interested in getting from point A to point B, the
nuvi 200 might easily be the right one for you.
It's got maps of
the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto
Rico.
If you want more
features, you can spring for the nuvi 350. It does
everything the nuvi 200 does and also adds maps of
Canada.
At less than $200,
I can't think of a better GPS device at that price
point.
If you really want
to pack on the features, consider the nuvi 660.
If you're
interested in this feature, the nuvi 760 is the one
for you.
Or, if you want
what is truly the most advanced, feature-laden
Garmin GPS unit on the market, then spring for the
nuvi 880.
